This bar graph shows nominal median house prices in each of the capital cities in March 1980, and March 2016. The prices were stable in 1980, and increased gradually in 2016. Housing prices have been going up, but housing affordability has been going down year by year. Sydney has the higher housing prices than other cities. Canberra has lower prices than other cities. Now a days people need to spend more money to buy a new house.
